А ведь ему нужна новая, четвёртая версия BOINC. С третьей не работает:

Да, а 4-я версия не поддерживает, к сожалению, проекты 3-ей версии: S@H пока еще не перешел на 4-ю, и P@H - планируется только после завершения CASP6 - во второй половине сентября.

Подключился, скачал один юнит, просчитается примерно за 90 дней, если не будет переключаться на другие проекты.

Благодаря Boinc количество активных пользователей CP увеличилось до 20000 из них 10000 на базе Boinca.

We have completed a new visualisation package that will let you look at what the atmosphere is doing in your run in a lot more detail. You can also look at the results of any other climateprediction.net experiment you've already completed. The package is great for finding out about the climate of the World, the structure of the atmosphere and its evolution through the seasons, years and decades.

Не вроде заработало, после того как я первое задание завернул, и скачал другое. Теперь вопрос в том как ему приоретет прибить чтобы оно счталось вместе с FAD. А то оно Think забивает

Если у тебя Win NT, 2000, XP, то открываешь Task Manager, выбираешь в списке процессов FAD и по правой кнопке мыши выбираешь приоритеты. Там 6 типов приоритетов: Low, Below Normal, Normal, Above Normal, High, Realtime.

Сам BOINC и не загружает проц, т.к. он всего лишь оболочка для проектов DC. А вот процессы проектов, которые запускаются BOINC'ом, и так имеют приоритет Low. Так что ниже уже не понизишь.
На самом деле уровней приоритетов больше (что-то вроде 32, если не ошибаюсь), но пользователю в системе доступны для изменения только эти 6. Остальные являются промежуточными, и доступны только разработчикам в процессе написания программы. Поэтому то, что один процесс забивает другой, зависит от того, какие приоритеты им были назначены в процессе их разработки.
Кстати, если комп с гипертридингом или многопроцессорный, то беспокоиться не о чем. Каждый из процессов хватает себе по процессору, и никто никому не мешает.

Hello,
Forgive the email, but we have discovered that a batch of workunits sent
out at the start of the CPDN/BOINC launch has an error in their configuration
that would prevent a file getting uploaded at the end of a run. If your machine(s)
listed below is still running the listed result, please do the following
to correct this problem.
1) stop the BOINC client on the machine
2) copy "client_state.xml" file in the BOINC directory to "client_state.bak",
just to have a backup in case the editing in 3) goes wrong
3) open the "client_state.xml" file in the BOINC directory in the text editor of your choice
4) search for "_1.zip" in this file
5) two lines down from this you should see a line starting with "<max_nbytes>"
6) change the value after "<max_nbytes>" from 1 to 5 (so it will be 5000000)
7) Important: do not edit any lines that are between (or just after)
a line beginning with "<signed_xml>"
8) Repeat if you have other results affected on this machine from the list
below, bearing in mind you should not change a "<max_nbytes>" line that is
located between lined with "<signed_xml>" and "</signed_xml>" tags

We do apologize for the trouble. It is not a "critical error" that would
prevent your run from completing, so if you have any apprehension about
editing this file, that is OK (it's just that the *_1.zip file will not be
sent, but other files will be).
This only effects a small number of workunits that were sent out around the
time of the CPDN/BOINC launch on 26 August '04, and the machines and result
names are located below.

Хмм, а почему новая графика так тормозит? Прежняя(в stand-alone клиенте) очень плавно работала, а тут - кадров 5 в секунду

Причём "this happens" уже во второй раз. Так что я сделал Reset project и вернулся пока к Фолдингу. Потраченных 33 CPU-часов конечно жаль.
